Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
As a sustainability working student you will be responsible for supporting the sustainability team in improving product stewardship practices.
Responsibilities:
Develop recommendations about material emission factors related to our industry and activities
Develop recommendations on LCA modelling fundamentals for specific applications
Contribute to a variety of research methods to analyze, report, and provide recommendations for sustainability projects and programs
Assist in conducting Life Cycle Assessments for products or processes
Collaborate with the Sustainability Team to model environmental impacts and suggest improvements based on LCA findings
Research internal and external communications about sustainability topics
General research and data collection on sustainability topics as needed
Education and Experience :
Currently pursuing a degree in Material Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field
Strong interest and understanding of sustainability principles and practices
Excellent research and analytical skills
Familiarity with emissions factors and Life Cycle Assessment concepts is a plus
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Detail-oriented and able to work independently
